On the organics vanguard
Our production process, which is described ahead in this profile, seeks for harmonizing the economic, social and environmental interests of the company, in a sustainable way.
We perform an adequate stewardship to the soil, keeping its balance and avoiding its depauperation. We contribute to a balanced environment in our organic farms by implanting biodiversity islands, formed by native forests, integrated to crop fields, among other important activities.
An organic production process must also respect labor legislation and guarantee good working conditions to employees in order to achieve certification. At Native we go beyond legislation, offering preventive and emergencial health care, odontologic assistance, scholarship among other benefits.
We are not in this business by coincidence. Since the foundation of Santo Antonio mill in 1946 we have been searching for excellence in quality and productivity, but also focusing on human life quality and a healthy environment. In 1981, by means of intensive research, we got to control one of the most important plagues on sugarcane fields, the sugarcane borer, using its natural enemies, therefore without using any pesticide.
Six years later we developed a new sugarcane production system with mechanical harvesting of raw sugarcane, in which the sugarcane left overs recycled nutrients and provided an extremally benefic mulch to regenerate the soil.
This paper presents the amazing results of these and other initiatives, who stresses our commitment to sustainability, in the search for an economically viable, socially fair and environmentally accountable development model.
Native is positioned in one of the most promising markets in the food business worldwide: Organic goods. This market keeps growing at exponential rates all around the world, moving billions of dollars. That is a consolidated market. Organic food production benefits the consumer above all, with nutritious and flavoured products. Furthermore, an organic food is produced in harmony with the environment.
