Fenghuang County Chuancheng Nation Craft Co., Ltd. is located in Fenghuang County, a famous county with long history and rich cultural heritage. Lying in the southwest of China, the county is highly praised as the most beautiful town in China by Louis Irene, a renowned poet of New Zealand. Fenghuang County was and is an important place where the culture of southwestern nationalities and that of the Han nationality mingle with each other. Today, the population of the Miao Nationality (as ancient as the Han Nationality) of Fenghuang accounts for more than 66%.

The Miao Nationality of China is like the Jewish people, for in the past thousands of years, the Nationality had been involved in wars and in migration. Hence, the Nationality does not have its written language and all its history have been recorded in different patterns. In ancient China, silver was the hard currency. Because the Miao Nationality often migrated form one place to another, its people had to carry all their treasure along with them, which was often in the form of silver. Therefore, the Miao people worships silver from the bottom of their heart, which hardly happens in other nationalities of the world. The Miaos regard silver ornaments and other silver items which depict their history as their totems and have developed unique handicraft art of silver processing.

In 2006, the Chinese government, for the first time, organized a nationwide appraising activity, which tended to review the non-material culture of the country. The handicraft art of silver processing of the Miao people was paid special attention to and was included in the list of most endangered 30 forms of non-material cultural heritage of China.

We have timely explored, restored and sorted through many silver processing techniques of the Miao people, such as melting, forging, embossing, openwork carving, circular carving, cold drawing, thread rolling, multilayer filigreeing, lacing, blowing welding and inlaying. All these techniques are employed by the artists of the Corporation to produce hundreds of kinds of silver handicrafts, which vividly portray the history, the totems and the mascots of the Miao Nationality. Besides, we have developed all kinds of top-class products with patents, which cater to the needs of official agencies and business firms.

In current years, we develop rapidly. Our firm has united many excellent silver processing craftsmen living in different compact communities of the Miao Nationality and has built up nearly 10 workshops in local areas of the communities. The craftsmen in our workshops employ traditional techniques to make fine silver handicrafts according to the blueprints provided by the Designing Center of our Corporation. We have an exhibiting hall with an area of nearly 500 square meters in Fenghuang County. In the hall, you can enjoy the live show of the processing procedures of a silver handicraft and you can also feast you eye on many fine and delicate silver handicrafts and some other products with the style of the Miao Nationality, such as embroideries and trappings.
Due to outstanding contribution to the protection and development of the silver processing handicraft art of the Miao Nationality, we have been highly praised and valued by the government. In July 2009, we established Miao Nationality Traditional Handicraft Art Research Institute which was approved by Bureau of Nationalities Affairs of Fenghuang County. In July 2009, we set up National-level Non-material Cultural Heritage Miao Nationality Silver Processing Handicraft Art Exhibiting Base, which was approved by Bureau of Culture and Center of Non-material Culture Protection of Fenghuang.
