Strategically based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, IDA is ideally located to take advantage of the booming Chinese manufacturing markets as well as being on the border with Hong Kong, one of the World' s greatest international trading ports.
At IDA our principle role is to act as trading agent for technology companies who are looking to purchase goods for export from the vast Chinese manufacturing market place.
Our client base includes businesses in Europe, India and the Middle East.
The background and ethos.
IDA is a wholly owned company, owned by me, Ata Ren. I am a university educated graduate, having studied English&Japanese&Overseas business at LuoYang University.
After graduating from University I set my sites on gaining the relevant work experience required so as to enable me to achieve my ultimate goal, to set up and run my own business. I have worked in international technical sales for a range of technology products. I have worked with many companies in China, on behalf of a range of local and international clients. Studying the pros and cons of business operations and trading relationships I have gained valuable experience and a good understanding of client expectations.
Far too often, Chinese companies wishing to set up international trading relationships believe that, to get noticed, they must be of a certain size in terms of turnover, number of employees and size of commercial property. Figures quoted are often optimistic to say the least, and photographs of impressive office buildings and busy factory floors rarely match up with the address of these businesses.
This frequent misinformation creates a commercial minefield for prospective clients who are looking to set up international trade links with Chinese companies, leaving many bewildered and concerned.
Expensive exploratory business trips to China can often be fruitless and, in the case of many lower value products, these trips cannot be commercially justified anyway.
Of course, beyond sourcing the right product at the right price, with the best manufacturer, there is the ongoing requirement of maintenance of all aspects of the trading partnership. For this purpose, having an independent person on the ground' to liaise with suppliers offers key benefits. Keeping prices market competitive and manufacturing standards high obviously makes commercial sense and this can be difficult to maintain from a distance.
In addition to me, I currently employ one member of staff. As and when a situation requires, for the need of an additional pair of hands or specialist knowledge, I look to the specialist contract employment market to fulfil the requirement. This intentionally simple business structure allows IDA to remain very flexible and, thus, adaptable to client requirement.
The idea is that working with IDA should be a refreshingly simple and straight forward experience. Truth and transparency are key attributes that form a backbone of IDA. We look to build ongoing trading relationships and not to make fast bucks.
