Fukutomi Company Limited was founded in 1984 by Dr. Steve Wong with only staff member at the beginning .Started from watches and plastic scrap business, Fukutomi has grown into a large conglomerate of 100+ employees with "plastic scrap"now remains the core business of the company. Today, the company's annual sales turnover exceeds 1.5 billion Hong Kong Dollars.In view of the rapid business growth in the late 80's , management decided to develop channels and network of supply in potential countries across the world by setting up associate companies and developing business partners worldwide. Europe and USA are our major markets of supply, followed by Australia and Asia. Today Fukutomi's operation spans across 15 countries in Europe,USA,Australia , Asia and South Africa with our associate companies collecting various types of industrial plastic scraps locally and shipping them to Hong Kong and China in containers.To capture the business opportunities that arose when China joined the World Trade Organization, Fukutomi set up its firstrepresentative office in Shenzhen, China in February 2000. Two other representative offices were established in Ningbo and Beijing in 2005 and 2006 respectively .With the evolving global economy, the ever-changing market requirements and the increasing demand of environmental protection, Fukutomi dynamically developed the use of recycled plastic scrap. To prove our commitment to environmental protection and to follow the company's objective of sustainable development , Fukutomi Merchandising Company Limited, which manufactures plastic products from plastic scrap materials, was officially established in 2003 to handle the exports and trading of finished products.In 2006, Fukutomi (Shantou) Industrial Co.Ltd.was established in Shantou ,China and decided to invest in a science and technology park within the Shantou Free Trade Zone.The Shantou Fukutomi Green Science and Technology Park covers an area over 94,000square meter. Initial phase production lines include production of multimedia packaging products, blister used for packaging purpose, plastic pallets for industrial use by using prime and recycled materials; compounding of plastics; and production of biodegradable Polylactic Acid products. All these activities are to strengthen and enhance our commitment to achieving the company's objective.The utilization of biodegradable materials in replacing the traditional petroleum-based plastics for environmental protection has become the world trend of today. Fukutomi has produced products such as golf tees and flower pots from biodegradable Polylactic Acid . These products were exhibited at the Environmental Protection Trade Fair in Hong Kong in the last few years.In 2010,Fukutomi has not only been accredited the "ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System"and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System"certificates, but also achieved 2 awards:CAPITAL Outstanding Green Excellence Awards 2010(by Capital Magezine)Hang Seng PRD Environmental Awards 2009/10:Green Participant(by Federation of Hong Kong industries)In the same year, Fukutomi acquired a site of 7,600 square meter in Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate,Hong Kong to construct a plastic scarp recycling plant and to install various production lines in order to ease the landfill pressure caused by municipal plastic solid waste in Hong Kong .Besides, a research centre on examining plastic recycling technique under collaboration with Hong Kong Polytechnic University is proposed.The vision of "Fukutomi Company Limited" is to become a leading enterprise committing to helping the society promote the use of present through recycling activities.
