Kertak Nanotechnology s.r.o. (Ltd.) is the first and only supplier of the inorganic nanofibers on an industrial scale in the world. The principal products comprised from inorganic materials such as TiO2, Li4Ti5O12, Al2O3, SiO2 and are applicable in cosmetics, solar cells, fuel elements, chemical catalysts or for oxygen sensors. PRODUCTS

Nanofibers can dramatically improve product performance and profitability.

TiO2 (titanium dioxide)

-for photovoltaic: the advantage of nanofibers in the photovoltaic cell architecture when compared to nanoparticles is the creation of a so called electron-expressway which reduces the recombination of electrons, therefore allowing higher efficiency of light / electricity conversion.

-for solar cells: Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) are known to have many advantages over traditional silicon-based cells, including, transparency, flexibility and lower production cost. Nanofibers improve DSSC performance by replacing TiO2 nanoparticles with TiO2 nanofibers, which have superior surface area properties for light collection and are a more practical structure for energy transmission, reducing the path required for electron transport.

Li4Ti5O12 (lithium titanite)

-material for anodes of Li-iON batteries: enables lithium batteries expansion into applications such as hybrid cars or fully electrical cars. Enables a lower source resistance within a battery, a higher charging rate (a few minutes) while using solid state electrolyte, securing the internal safety of the battery against damage due to overcharge or thermal runway.

Al2O3 (alumina)

Alumina has a wide variety of uses from a catalyst support material to field effect transistors, ultra capacitor dielectric material and as an abrasive material. The properties of alumina in these applications can be thoroughly enhanced by utilizing a nanofiber form.

SiO2 (silicon dioxide)

Used in microelectronic applications where its ability to serve as a superior electric insulator with high chemical stability prove beneficial. The material can be used to protect silicon, store charge, block current and even provide a pathway for current to flow through a device. These characteristics are all enhanced by utilizing a nanofiber form of silica.

ZrO2 (zirconium dioxide)

ZrO2 is an important material in industry and technology due to their properties, such as high melting point, low thermal conduction, high strength, high ionic conductivity and specific optical and electrical properties and has found a wide application area such as: transparent optical devices, electrochemical capacitor electrodes, oxygen sensors, fuel cells, catalysts and advanced ceramics.

Ceramic and metal materials as catalysts and sensors

All noble metals (e.g. Platinum) and most of the transition metal oxides (e.g. TiO2) can be used to catalyze various kinds of chemical reactions.

Accessibility of the surface to the reactants is very important for the reaction kinetics. The higher specific surface area of a nanofibrous catalyst directly improves the reaction kinetics.

Consequences: faster reactions than with nanoparticles (time-saving), less material needed for the same speed (cost-saving).
