A few miles away from the great pyramids of Giza, a small town by the name of Kerdassa, has become a world renowned place for producing unique Hand-made carpets and Kleems (also known as kilims) as well as wall hanging tapestries. Most of the inhabitants of this small village are generations of artisans who produce Carpets and Kleems. It usually takes a period of more than several weeks to come up with one of these masterpieces hand-made with silk, cotton, and or wool. The wool used is pre-soaked to avoid any shrinkage after completion. Only permanent color dyes are used. Please note that each and every piece is a unique hand-made product and that makes it one of a kind. The artisan is usually capable of reproducing a similar piece at 90% accuracy of the displayed picture. In the hand-made business of Kleem and carpets, it is almost impossible to get a duplicate piece of 100% accuracy.
