Periyar latex ltd is a public limited company jointly promoted by rubber board, government of India, ministry of commerce, and rubber producers societies. The company has its registered office at ushus arcade, t. B junction, and muvattupuzha.

the company offers single centrifuged latex (60%), double centrifuged latex as per the customer specifications. We supply high quality ss latex for reputed condom manufacturers and also have exported all forms of natural rubber during the last three years.

the company has a turnover of rs.190 million. It is bis approved company. The company has engaged in transfer of technology and working hand in hand with rubber board for productivity enhancement, quality improvement and empowerment of small holders.

Objective

rubber plantation sector is dominated by small growers, who account for about 89% of the production and 89% of the area in this country. There are about one million small holders, whose average holding size is around 0.50hectre.

the rubber board has been promoting voluntary organizations of small holders by organizing them into self-help groups called rubber producers societies (rpss). This is to overcome the inherent weakness in this sector as a result of preponderance of smallholdings and small farming size.

Companies has been promoted as a second stage of development of rpss, considering the economies of scales required for processing value added forms of rubber. The company, in association with these rpss has adopted the concept of agribusiness consortium.

The company

the company has setup its latex centrifuging factory at kavakkad, ayavana panchayat, muvattupuzha in ernakulam district, kerala state. The factory is situated in an area of 4.5 acres of land on the banks of the river kaliyar. The company started functioning in 1990.

rubber board being the major stakeholder, the company enjoys the latest technology in the field with the technical assistance from the rubber research institute of India, the premier research and development organization in India.

a fully equipped laboratory with the latest facility for ensuring higher quality has also been set up. As it is, the company has emerged itself as one of the prime players in cenex industry in India. The company has certified its product with the bureau of Indian standards.
