LOMBARD SCOTCH WHISKY

Company Intro
Lombard Scotch Whisky was established in the 1960s as a family owned and managed company. As a "whisky broker", Lombard supplied bulk whisky to blenders. To meet market demand, the company had to secure its own stocks. Lombard contracted "new fill" whiskies at selected distilleries (a practice that remains). Administration was established on the Isle of Man. A stock base was developed.

Gold Label
Lombard Gold Label Old Blend was the first brand to be released from Lombard as it diversified into the cased goods market during the early 1980s. An award winning blend, Gold Label Old Blend was a good reflection of the company's mood to produce a whisky that aimed to recreate the prewar image of whisky and to re establish traditional whisky values. Harrod's Book of Whiskies said "Peaty aroma, slightly peaty flavour with a dry finish. A good all round blend."
Recently Gold Label Old Blend was upgraded and launched into USA. The brand range consists of 500ml PET, 750ml, 1 litre and 1.75L.

Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2008 says:
Nose: Chunky with a good malt depth.
Taste: Silky and mouthfilling with the malts weaving beautifully into the grains; honeycomb towards the middle.
Finish: Delicate spice and toffeenut.
Balance: Excellently weighted with some wonderful honeycomb and spice making their mark.
March 2008 Lombard's Gold Label was awarded Silver Medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Pebble Beach
An award winning Single Malt (Gold Medal: San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2007), Pebble Beach reflects best the two finest inventions from Scotland: golf and Single Malt. As a venue, Pebble Beach has been called "the greatest golf course in the world" and arguably touted as "the greatest meeting of land and water."
As a whisky Pebble Beach has been matured in the greatest of all woods, American white oak: Quercus Alba. Oak furnishes 3 basic flavours: vanilla, coconut and a toasty, burnt note (consequence of the cooperage itself). The Pebble Beach white oak is a second fill bourbon oak cask to provide for a more subtle oak influence of the vanilla sweetness (by law, bourbon has to be matured in new American oak casks). Pebble Beach is true to the trademark elegance of the Speyside region.

This Pebble Beach Speyside Single Malt whisky is best expressed when an additional splash of still cool water is added (approx 10%) to cut the malt to around 38%alc.vol.
The water used should be soft water (not distilled bottled water), preferably Scottish Highland Spring water. Pebble Beach has been in cask for 12 years, give it respect. When drinking, hold it on your tongue for 12 seconds. Finally push your tongue to the roof of the mouth and let the whisky be pushed into the sides of your mouth. Do not add ice (at any time). Never.
The palate will show crushed apples and pears with hints of lemon grass and soft caramel. Whispers of freshly cut flowers and ogen melon. Finish is sensual. Hallmark of this whisky is its "finesse". A fabulous, versatile Single Malt Scotch.

Jewels of Scotland: aged and rare Single Malts
A wide ranging, diverse collection of non chill filtered Single Malts, many from distilleries now closed. Benchmark bottling strength is 50%alc.vol (100% US Proof). The whiskies are never tampered with, ie, not chill filtered, not caramelised and not artificially coloured. Bottom of each face label shows colour coding for distillation area and every face label provides tasting notes. The collection has received worldwide acclaim. Recent reviews have received the highest ratings (ie, 95 points, Malt Advocate for Jewels of Scotland BRORA 1982: April 2009 and 95 points for Jewels of Scotland Springbank 1965: September 2009).
