EXEN (former Hayashi Vibrator Co., Ltd) was established in 1915 with the dream of becoming an automobile manufacture by Shigeki Hayashi (1884-1978), after many years of chasing the automotive ideal - our company's direction, design and technology changed and moved into the construction market and completed the very first Japanese-made concrete vibrators in 1934. Still today we stand as the world leader for construction, precast concrete consolidating technology and the vibrators used for it.
Although the name of the company has changed from Hayashi Automobile Factory, Hayashi Manufacturing Co., Ltd, Hayashi Vibrator Co, .Ltd, to today known as EXEN Corporation, we are still carrying out our original intention. The name of EXEN is derived from the words "Excellence and Eccentric (meaning unbalanced weight)", the basic principle which generates vibration.
The founder of the company that concrete vibrators were invented in France just before the beginning of World War I (1914). After the original concrete vibrator came to Japan where earthquakes occur frequently, the primitive compressed air driven motor to rotate the eccentric shaft that makes vibration has evolved greatly. From air, to Gas engine drive, to electric motor drive, and finally the high frequency electric power drive which is today's major technology used.
Earthquake disasters have threatened humankind in every corner of the earth for many years. To predict a natural disaster is impossible. Therefore requirement and demand for more hefty concrete structures with a high safety design are increasing around the world. For example, the Kobe earthquake that occurred in Kobe-city, Japan in 1995 induced massive destruction of concrete structures, such as a subway stations and buildings, including the Hanshin Expressway which was believed to be indestructible.
Although we took pride in being the worlds leading supplier of the highest concrete vibrator technology adapted during the past three quarters of a century, it revealed to us that technology of the equipment design must be unified with construction process of placing and vibrating concrete efficiently and effectively to insure the safest construction possible.
Construction and the rental equipment industry grew to record proportion in Japan during the 1980s and early 90s. Training and education of the actual workers placing concrete became critical. Although construction hand tools do break during use, EXEN offers the vibration equipment with the least amount of downtime at the job sight and the easiest repair. Even if the vibrator breaks, it is expected to be repaired and back on the job as soon as possible. If concrete structures in Japan are properly vibrated, consolidated, and hardened by EXEN vibrators. It is expected to keep the value and structural integrity without symptoms of ageing for at least 100 years.
This should be expected in construction work not only in Japan but around the world as well.
Our goal is to deliver this vibration technology to the world market. Since 1990 we have partnered with ISKCO Ltd. Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S.A and in 2003 opened EXEN Vibrator Jiaxing Co.Ltd. In Jiaxing-city, Zhejiang mainland China.
We are continually developing non-concrete related applications for industrial uses like the food industry or plant maintenance, etc. However we are open to any fields in the world's industrial markets that need assistance in design and developing new products and technology. No job is too big nor too small, our goal is to work with a social structure that allows our machines and equipment to be helpful at the job site, contributes to increased productivity, strength and safe operation for a company and its customers.
