The Hombo Shuzo has been in business for over 100 years since 1872. succeeding to the wishes of the late owner.Since the confused time that was soon after the era name had changed to Meiji. Matsuzaemon Hombo developed his business with inheriting the spirit of his father Gouemons aspiration social contribution with the encouragement of new industries. In the last half of the Meiji era. he started brewing Shochu using the sweet potato that was one of the typical Satsumas specialties.

Manufacturing place
We have the manufacturing place in six places.I will explain the feature of each manufacturing place as follows.
Satsuma Gojugura Hoshiyagura
As an authentic handmade Shochu distillery that hands down the essential qualities of Shochumaking from person to person, we stick with the traditional way of processing and are willing to disclose our method to the public so they can know how the authentic Satsuma Shochu is being made.The Hoshiyagura is the mother liquor brewer of the Umeshu Apricot liquer that is one of the Japanese specialty liquors.
Tsunuki Kishogura
The Tsunuki Kishogura brings down the passion and the aspiration of the Shochumaking with the spirit of skills of masters are precious. There are historical stonebuilt houses in our property that are still used as the warehouse for raw liquor. As you see from its appearance, it is the true place of the inauguration of Hombo Shuzo that preserves the classic formula and the successive tradition of Shochumaking.
Yakushima Denshogura
Yakushima is one of the World Natural Heritage islands that is called as an Alpine that floats on the ocean. Yakushima Denshogura, that adheres to the traditional hand working jarbrewery is located there as if in the Yakushimas embrace.In the nature of Yakushima The Yakushima Denshogura produces the excellent rare authentic Shochu made from the handmade malt and fermented with the aged jar that has existed since 1887.
Chiran Distillery
It is the key distillery for our authentic Shochu distillery. It is surrounded by the sweet potato field so that we get freshlyharvested sweet potatoes during its season.With using the high quality fresh potatoes we keep producing the unique Shochu with the southern Satsuma climate such as Kurokojijitate Sakurajima that is the representative Shochu of the Hombo Shuzo.
Yamanashi Mars Winery
In order to produce the worldclass wines Yamanashi Mars Winery contract with the excellent farmhouses in Yamanashi Prefecture and grow fine quality grapes in our own farm Hinoshironojo in Hosaka hill at the foot of the Kayagatake.
With the highskilled brewing we produce the highquality wines such as the series of Ch Mars that portray the Japanese climate and have received high evaluations at contests recently.
Shinshu Factory
The Shinshu Factory is located in Miyatamura at the foot of the Komagatake which is the central alpine of 798m elevations. It is a foggy and cool district where the temperature often goes down to 15 degrees below zero, and surrounded by the good quality natural pure water and the natures bounty.
We focus on producing liquors that portray the Shinshu climate such as the Mars whisky which is matured in the natural pure water and the cool environment. the wine which is based on the Nagano Appellation Control and the collaboration with the local.
