I was trained how to tie flies when I was 15 years old in one of the biggest fly tying companies by then. It was known as Kenya Trout and Salmon Flies Company whose director was a Scottish man Mr. Geoffrey and other senior members of staff. I started gaining experience when I was 19 years old. This was the time I started to tie more complicated patterns such as Salmon Full Dressed. I did not just like this kind of job because I was seeking a job but I liked it most when I came to realize there were barbels hooks for sport fishing.
Fly tying business was introduced in Kenya basically to keep busy the physically disabled people and to promote their living.
After the company closed down many people were left jobless and this was the time I decided to open my own firm. I started making inquiries accompanied by samples to different customers and in some cases they responded and gave some orders. I employed half the number of disabled people from the closed company. A supervisor, storekeepers, dispatchers, order programmers and a factory manager. These people work as a team to ensure that the flies are delivered on time, in excellent quality, the right flies for the particular country and the right materials.
Today our firm has forty tiers with experience range of between 3 to 15 years. We boast of a capacity to tie almost all types of flies e. g. Bass Bugs, Salmons, Saltwaters, Nymphs, Dries, Wets, Stones, Streamers, Tube Flies, B. H. Nymphs, Dries, Terrestrials e. t. c.
Our mission is not just to make profits to provide jobs for our fellow countrymen; dropouts, orphans and widows. Every order made big or small contributes to this worthy course.
