Pakistan Wheelchair Foundation is a non-profit organization (NPO) to provide training for making Active Wheelchairs and enhancing Independent Living (IL) Movement in Pakistan and South Asian region. It is a recommended and authorized platform of Japan Council on Independent Living Centers (JIL) and Saito Kobo, Japan, and Milestone Society for the Special Persons in Pakistan. It aims to provide hand-on training and practical experiences to wheelchair makers (manufacturers) and skill development of disabled persons (consumers) living in South Asian countries within the framework of their locally available resources, environment and cultural context. The foundation helps the disabled persons to establish their small businesses as service providers for other disabled persons with a purpose to contribute to promote Independent Living Movement. The foundation also provides wheelchair parts for assembling active wheelchairs by the trainees in their own places.
