RAJO, a.s., is one of the largest Slovak producers of dairy products. It handles milk of the highest quality and offers consumers traditional and innovative dairy products bearing the self-same commercial brand RAJO.
The story of RAJO success
The beginnings of the company RAJO is dated to the year 1992, when the joint-stock company MILEX Slovakia was formed from the state dairy enterprise MILEX. One year later the company Schardinger Milch AG became the major shareholder with the purchase of the majority share of the company. The company changed its name to MILEX Schardinger Slovakia, a.s. In connection with the change in the name of the major shareholder, it was necessary in 1996 to rename the company. The new company name, RAJO, a.s., was taken from the name of the yoghurts which had been in the Milex assortment since 1991 (it is derived from the words, Racionalny jogurt, /Rational yoghurt/ = healthy food).
In the year 2001 a new shareholder entered the company, the German company Meggle AG, which has since 2003 been a 100-percent owner of the shares of RAJO, a.s. The Bavarian maker of dairy products integrated RAJO, a.s., into the holding MEGGLE Eastern Europe GmbH. RAJO, a.s., ranks among the largest subsidiaries of MEGGLE found in the countries of Eastern Europe. Thanks to the trade network of the parent company, products made in Slovakia are also sold abroad.

MEGGLE is a family-owned German company operating in the Bavarian city of Wasserburg. The owner, Josef Anton Meggle, is the fifth generation of the family to head the company. The company began 120 years ago as a small cheese factory and evolved into a producer of highly modern dairy products. In addition to traditional dairy products, it also has in its portfolio a well-known herb butter and it ranks among the top world suppliers of lactose for the pharmaceutical industry.

Furthermore, in 2005 Rajo became the first milk processing enterprise in Slovakia to become a holder of an IFS (International Food Standard) certificate. Obtaining this certificate is conditioned on fulfilling the most-demanding requirements of quality, validation and product safety.
Moreover, RAJO, a.s., has for many years had an established and successful HACCP auditing system founded on the principles of the Codex Alimentarius and as a result satisfies the requirements for a successful system of management.
