Welcome to the Department of Minerals and Energy, (Department of Minerals and Energy Private Bag X59 Pretoria 0001) Thes an introduction to the various specialised divisions of the DME and associated institutions are responsible for the administration of the mining laws and for promoting the development of the industry.
Before proceeding with the details, it is pertinent to state that we are a three head-member committee involved in this transaction of which I am the Executive. The mandate we handle within the Department of Mineral & Energy Resources is to award contracts & review all payments effected for contracts executed in the tenure of the Government of South Africa as it relates to the Mineral & Energy Resources industry, and given also the exclusive mandate to validate payment claims for contracts executed for which payments has not been completed or made, and where we are satisfied about the authenticity of such claims, we go ahead and issue approval for payment of the concerned contract amount to the contractor. In other words, it is our responsibility to approve all contracts and payments of contract executed for our Government Statutory Corporation, Mineral & Energy Resources.
It is in this course of our award of contracts that we awarded the contracts for the Y2K compliance computer installation and the turn around maintenance for the Mineral & Energy Resources.
