Emmu Gems Limited officially started operating in Uganda after registration in 1995, but prior to that the directors bought and operated their first mine in 1989 and openned up a lime production plant in Tororo and Kasese Uganda. In 1998 the company started prospecting in Karamoja and Kapchorwa in the east of Uganda and engaged in mining activities in Arusha, Songea, and Turkana in Tanzania and Kenya respectively. Due to security and infrastructure related problems Emmu Gems abandoned the mining projects in the areas stated above.Currently we are focused on three tantalite locations,4599,4600, and 4601 on Lwata hill, Ruhama county in Ntungamo District Western Uganda.Location rights, EIA certificates and local aprovals from relevant organisations and departments have been aquired. After six months of cleanning up and preparing the site, we have started working on an adit within which have placed a shaft. We started recorvering of the minerals right from the word go. The percentage content has built up to over 30% Tantalite oxide and 33% Nobium content. We hope to have built up significant quantities by december 2004 to commence Exports.
