An Indian investor establishes nile agro industries ltd in the year 2000 in jinja to manufacture, trading & market agriculture commodities for the end use of Uganda and in great lake region market.
The company manufactures and markets nile brand vegetable cooking oil in 3,5,10 and 20 ltrs. Jerry cans and nile brand bakers flour in the local market in 2 kgs. (12 pkts x 2 KG. Cartoon) bag and 50kgs bags for local and east African market. The nile brand agro products are well accepted by local customers available countrywide through wholesalers and retailers and is now penetrating east African market.
Wheat milling - unit
The company is operating a mordent fully automatic flour mill of 60 metric ton per day from july 2002. The unit is meeting wheat flour and by products wheat pollard, wheat bran requirement of the country and it makes export to east African region. For operation of this flourmill we are using wheat like Indian milling wheat, hard red winter, argentine, and Ukraine. The production of wheat grain in Uganda is low compared to its demand. Hence it is required to import wheat grains.
Cooking oil mill complex with refinery unit.
The company established its cooking oil mill and refinery complex with its by products. It is in operation since year 2000 with oil seeds crushing capacity of 100mt per day with refinery 30mt per day. The company is in process of expanding local seeds crushing capacity 100mt per day to 150mt per day. The main oil seeds source is within great lake region. However, the demand of cooking is growing in great lake region, where as the supply of local oil seeds are limited. This requires imports of crude palm oil for growing demand and to serve the same in the market.
Inputs of oil seeds through cotton ginning sector.
Since last 2-3 years, we have expanded our business in cotton ginning also. We also have 7 cotton ginneries in different parts of Uganda I. E. Busembatia, kachumbala, mukongoro, arappai, pallisa, bushenyi, kibuku. The cotton ginneries produce finest cotton lint and were exported to European countries. The by products cotton seeds of above ginneries are being used for making cooking oil and its by products at our factory in jinja. This is perfect vertical integration for sourcing the same within local resources.
