Incorporated in 1923, Haileyburia Tea Estates Ltd. (HTEL) operates three estates--Haileyburia, Semni Valley, and Chinnar--spread over 3,000 acres in Elappara, Kerala, India. It employs over 1,000 people to produce 1.8 million kilograms of crush-tear-curl (CTC) black tea annually. HTEL is regionally acclaimed for its trademark "Chinnar," which regularly tops the Kochi Tea Auction in the prices it commands for its grades. In addition, HTEL manufactures "Periyar" and "Haileyburia" marks, which are renowned as value-for-money and consistent black teas, especially in the export market.

Manufacturing occurs within the premises in its state-of-the-art factory built in 2004, which specializes in dust grades. Major grades include primary and secondary PD, RD, BOPF, FD, GD, SRD, SFD, BP, BOP, and BP1. In addition, HTEL grows coffee and spices, mainly black pepper and cardamom. The company is headquartered in Kochi, the commercial capital of Kerala.

Brooklyn Beverages, Inc. (BKB) is the independent export division of HTEL. A Delaware incorporated holding with offices in New York and Los Angeles, BKB exclusively makes export markets for HTEL's produce. In addition, BKB leverages the group's position at the Cochin Tea Auction to source grades it does not produce at best prices, making it an unparalleled source for South Indian teas. BKB's is led by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Wesley Chen, a native of Los Angeles, California.
