Golden Krust Bakery started as a mom and pops bakery in Jamaica West Indies in 1949 by Mavis and Ephraim Hawthorne under the name Hawthorne's & Sons. Bakery. They baked mostly breads, buns, and pastries. The Hawthorne siblings and families migrated to New York and in 1989 decided to carryon their parents legacy and opened their flagship store in The Bronx. Within 7 short years Golden Krust got USDA approval, registered, and got it's franchise license. Golden Krust is the largest manufaturer of Jamaican style patties(empanadas), and other baked products. Golden Krust is also the largest Caribbean owned franchise in North America, boasting over 120 stores and growing. Our product is found in supermarkets, educational and corrctional institutions, hospitals, and major sports facilities
