Colombia:
A major European resources company needed a large quantity of coal to fill orders they had obtained throughout Europe. Major coal resources were identified in Colombia. This country is embroiled in a civil war and a hot bed for drug dealing and other major organized crime activities. Kidnappings and murders occur daily. This is a very dangerous place to do business. Waltrade assisted the customer to make contacts with the two largest coal producers in the country. Waltrade helped to structure supply deals with these companies. Waltrade assisted the company with the complex and highly-competitive logistics arrangements.
Zimbabwe:
This country is one of the most economically distressed countries in the world. The unemployment rate is over 80% . Inflation is over 1, 600% per year. Thirty five percent of the population is HIV positive. The country has been ruled for 28 years by an autocratic Marxist. It certainly is not an attractive destination for foreign investment. Waltradecc was hired to look at the situation and make an investment recommendation for a major client. Our analysis found the following positive factors: 1) Zimbabwe holds 50% of the world platinum deposits, 2) Zimbabwe has massive deposits of coal, nickel, gold, 3) Zimbabwe still has an excellent infrastructure including roads, airports, etc. Waltradecc spent a lot of time looking at the presidential elections and the prospects for a regime change. We interviewed people "on the ground" who risked arrest and imprisonment to tell the truth. At the end of this process we reached the conclusion that a positive regime change would come soon. We recommended that an investment be made. When the client approved this, Waltradecc worked with the Southern African specialty investment firm Imara SP Reid Pty Ltd to implement the actual investment.

A major telecommunications equipment manuifacturer experienced a boom in sales. When market conditions changed, the company found itself with over $2 million US dollars in unsold inventory. To make matters worse, this inventory was highly specialized components used to make Motorola iDEN trunking and cellular phone sites automatic with increased productivity. Waltradecc was hired to prevent a major loss. A study of the US mobile telephone market was undertaken. A company specializing in providing cellular phone service to small towns and rural areas was identified. Contacts were made and a business relationship was extablished. On the international front, Waltradecc identified customers for these components in Brasil, Peru, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. The unsold inventory was sold and an additional $6 million US dollars in sales generated.
