In 1971 it was established that in the strategic plans to advance the Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana (CVG), it was appropriate to include a production of pipe fittings, flanges and valves in the country based on the Guayana region, which would not only use products water down the pipe plant CVG SIDOR thus giving added value to the iron ore obtained from the same region, but covers the basic requirements of the industrial sector (oil, aluminum, steel and mining) for those goods not manufactured in the country at that time.
International companies were contacted and two were selected (02) that had tradition, experience, reputation, credit and interest enough to undertake the project. Those companies were the American GULF & WESTERN INC. and Argentina's Techint. After initial agreements the company was legally established on February 23, 1972, under the name METALMEG, SA, with initial capital of 6,000,000.00 Bs and Bs 12,500,000 increment after, oo to join CVG partner after obtaining the approval of Congress for such an association. As the first and only producer of pipe fittings and flanges in Venezuela, began its production activities at the beginning of September 1973, when the plant opened by the former President Dr. Rafael Caldera, during his first presidential term, during the first 18 years was president Dr. Erwin Arrieta Valera, succeeded Mr. Jorge Roig Navarro for five years after Mr. Gerardo Serrao Baptista for 3 years and currently holds this responsibility Mr. Jorge Roig.
At the present time the social capital is of mixed composition between private partners that make up society Invest and the Venezuelan state represented by the Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana (CVG), is advancing a process of certification in the company to strengthen the system Quality Management according to ISO 9001:2008 and consolidate as reliable suppliers throughout the process industry, especially traditional customers and trying to penetrate niche markets with special high reliability and general use across the process industry.
