The international trade development centre is and was established in1994 in Montreal, Canada. The 1980's and 1990's was a period where the market place saw emergence of mega-companies like ikea, walmart, sears etc... These companies moved their manufacturing to developing countries, where labour is cheap, and then imported the products and sold them at retail!!! As a result small companies and family-run business were squeezed out of the market because they could no longer compete.
Itdc mission is to assist small business in developing countries and in USA and Europe to stay in business, and compete with these giants. We find suppliers in developing countries and buyers in developed countries - from small and medium sized businesses. We look for innovative ways to assist small business and individuals get established into the world market. It is widely acknowledged that the development of new jobs and economic growth is powered by small companies.
