While there are lots of activities in the mass manufacturing space especially in China, there is also a need to provide low cost high value engineering components with smaller batch quantities (like during the stage of prototype development, small test quantities or just small batch quantities). Large manufacturers can afford to have captive plants in lower cost countries like China or can afford to source in mass, there are quite a few small to medium manufacturers in different product life cycle stages who are not able to benefit from sourcing from lower cost but high tech countries like India due to the complexities and costs involved.
