The history and profile of the company
We would like to introduce ourselves as an ISO 9001:2000 certified company manufacturing & trading of spare parts like pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, engine valves, valve guides, crank shafts, connecting rods, jets, washers, engine mounting, oil seals etc. For automobiles, tractors and diesel engines though we specialize in designing and manufacturing piston rings - steel section rings, cast iron rings, hump expander, steel shims for the last three decades. Apart from this we are also into manufacturing springs for diverse applications like piston rings, locks, dispensers, automobile mirror assembly etc.
The swift expansion of piston rings manufacturing soon overtook our other activities and the decision was made to concentrate on the production of piston rings, hump expanders, and steel shims only.
With the continued growth of the business and the increasing complexity of casting, a new induction furnace was introduced in 1991, which also saw the starting of production of non magnetic alfin rings.
In 1998 a total update of our design office was needed, this was also the year when we were accredited with ISO 9000 certificate. We installed a purpose built design office with full 2d,3D, and solid modeling facilities. We also have a state of the art inspection department with a reference standard co-ordinate measuring machine and specially modified computer controlled equipment to measure the ovality and vertical profile to one tenth of a micron (.0001mm).
Our machining plant currently houses six 4-axis cnc machining centers, one 3-axis cnc vertical milling machine, seven 2-axis cnc turning lathes and one 4-axis PC controlled profile turning lathe along with numerous manual and automatic conventional machines.
All of our machines are maintained to the highest order and are capable of machining to very close tolerances using the latest developments available in cutting tool technology.
The profile turning lathe that produces the ovality and vertical profile, easily affords repeatability within +/-.005mm (.0002") and normally produces a repeatability factor of +/-.002mm (.000078") on diameter. We always work in close conjunction with the customer to develop these critical profiles and, because of our experience in this field excellent running results are achieved initially and only occasionally are very minor changes required to suit a particular engine idiosyncrasies.
In late 2001 we installed state of the art 3D cam (computer aided machining) software allowing us to machine small batch prototypes from solid billets. This means that when the final design has been arrived at, we can make a "no compromise" tooling. If tooling is made first, and then design and development continues, the customer may end up with a less than satisfied product, which then requires further tooling to be made, again at extra cost. Though costly at first,3D prototyping is the best policy in the long term, especially for "cutting edge" development of leading race engines where in the initial stages many changes are usually needed. Due to the lack of optimum grain structure of a piston ring produced this way, along with various other factors, fatigue life is somewhat reduced. It is therefore recommended that they are only used for development work and not in very high stress racing applications such as formula 1, gp motorcycle racing etc. In may 2004 we installed a dedicated high speed machining center enabling us to keep up with demand from our customers that have intense ongoing development and need quick turn around for prototypes, we can also give quicker turn around for small batch production.
We supply customers worldwide and our products meet the stringent inspection procedures.
We are also looking for collaboration for setting a new manufacturing plant in India if it interests your company we can talk further on this in detail.
