Our tea trail at BALAJI AGRO INTERNATIONAL traces its history back to 1959 when Mr. Santosh Kanoria took over the reins of the tea plantations of his family, the Kanoria group of industries, and transformed them into efficient quality conscious estates. A renowned planter and taster, he has owned and managed tea estates in Darjeeling, Assam, Terai and Dooars. He is one of the pioneers in the tea export efforts of Indian teas. In 1970 he decided to reduce his involvement in plantations and concentrate more on exports of quality teas. To fulfil this dream, the legend of BALAJI AGRO INTERNATIONAL was born. The cornerstones of this firm since foundation have been: Trust, Service and Value for money. It is this sincerity of objective coupled with an in-depth knowledge of tea and its marketing, as well as our high personalised levels of service that has made us a respected name in the international tea world today.
Our function - Export of specialty Indian teas, chiefly from Darjeeling and Assam, with an emphasis on the high quality and gourmet section. We serve as an effective one stop shop for all requirements of quality North Indian teas.
Our business philosophy - Build long-term business relations with our trading partners worldwide based on trust and confidence, and be recognised for our reliable service based on providing best value for money.
Our objective - Work as partners with all our associates to spread our passion for tea and to develop our business together for mutual benefit, and to develop sales of premium teas in non-traditional tea drinking countries. This is only possible by offering teas of a high quality at competitive rates, so that the consumer is made aware of the taste of a good cup of tea and is prepared to take to tea. It is our constant endeavour to provide the end consumer the pleasure of unravelling the mystique of the finest teas of the world.
Our Commitment - We are committed to reliably providing our buyers with good quality teas at value for money prices. We recognise that tea is a food item and recognise the importance of delivering a hygienic and quality product.
Our R&D - In order to constantly upgrade our services, our priority is to develop our infrastructure for warehousing and processing facilities. A new modern warehouse is in the final stages of planning and we intend to commission this in time for the new tea season in 2005. Emphasis is being given on machines for cleaning and packing tea, and on maintaining the highest standards of hygiene.
WE ARE A SPECIALISED COMPANY WITH A BROAD VISION
A)Export sales over the past five years have been an average of over 10,000 chests Darjeeling annually in addition to sales of Assams and other teas. This represents approximately 5% of the annual production of Darjeeling. Most of the teas are primary whole leaf, sourced from the quality period of 1st and 2nd flush. We also ship brokens, souchong and fannings grades. Additionally, we have some strategic tie-ups with leading producers for their shipments. Thus although the supply of specialty teas is limited, we can justifiably claim to be leaders in the quality segment as the above exports are all to the Western world and Japan.
B)We concentrate our services on few selected clients in each country to deliver personalised service. Currently our trading partners are located in 16 countries, and include major importers and packers in Europe, U. S. A, Japan and U. K.
C)We have recently turned our attention to carving out a niche segment for ourselves in the larger markets of CIS, Middle East and some non traditional markets.
We invite you to unravel the mystique and romance of our teas and to reap the benefits.
