Touchstone is the creation of Archana Garodia Gupta, an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and the winner of BBC Mastermind and BBC Mastermind Champion of Champions and Manoj Gupta, ex F.G.A. and gemologist.
The production process used is the same as that for precious jewellery. Our team of masters Karigars (artisans) and designers create designs which are then translated into jewellery using modern techniques, thus ensuring superlative quality combined with low cost. To produce our designs we use a variety of methods. Some designs are produced by lost wax casting and some by 'Spin Casting'. Others are produced by traditional embossing and stamping techniques. Still others are handmade by the skilled artisans. All pieces are then hand finished and hand-set with gems stones. No adhesive is used. The founders, Manoj and Archana Gupta are both professionally qualified Gemmologists. They have a profound knowledge of gemstones which is reflected in the quality and variety of stones used in touchstone jewellery.
Touchstone manufactures as well as reproduces : Metal(Tin , Zinc) Based Plated Imitation Jewelry, Brass based Imitation Jewelry, and Plated Silver Based Imitation Jewelry as well as other articles manufactured by Lost Wax Casting as well as 'Spin' Casting methods at its Noida Unit.
Touchstone also offers its offices and services for use as a 'buyer' or 'agent' or 'Facilitator' for Jewelry and other Cast articles as well as 'Precious & Semiprecious Gemstones' from small 'cottage' industry type artisans as it has intrinsic knowledge of these items. The Directors of the company are two gemologists who have been in the business of natural gemstones and jewelry from over 25 years.

We manufacture both Semi-Precious Jewellery as well as 'Costume' Jewellery - depending on what the client wants as the costs are quite different at times.
In India - what is called costume jewellery is Jewellery made of base metal (no silver content) - the stones 'studded' in it - are actually 'glued' in the 'setting spaces' as opposed to 'Studded or hand Set' (like in Real jewellery) and also the ' stones ' themselves are inexpensive (as compared to CZ) - and made of either ' glass or plastic ' (maybe 'swarowski glass' which is nevertheless a kind of lead glass). In costume jewellery one uses low melting lead based metals or tin or zinc based metals - the manufacturing is by a different method called 'Spin Casting' with different machinery and very different costs and is much cheaper to manufacture and finish than that used in our kind of Semiprecious Jewellery.
In our Semi-Precious Jewellery - we manufacture Jewellery by a combination of the 'Lost Wax Casting Process' and partly by 'Hand Making'. However, every item of our jewellery is 'Hand Finished'. This is the same method used in the manufacture of Real Gold Jewellery with the same costly machines and materials.
