The tools are widely used in the construction, refinery and shipbuilding industries for everything from chipping away concrete build up on cement mixers to bridge repair work.

Macdonald first developed the "scabbler" as a specific solution, in response to a request for help from a customer.
They required a device that could remove laitence from a large area of concrete, simultaneously leaving a "keyed" surface ready for pouring the next layer of concrete.
The first scabblers were a great success and led to the extensive range of wheel mounted and hand held machines now available for every conceivable application
