SIMON OWOADE. Developing Minds Empowering People
Simon Owoade was born in the UK. After graduating from University in 1998 he worked as a secondary school teacher for three years, preparing students for their GCSE. It was during that time that he developed a passion for helping young people to address issues in their lives through counselling and pointing them in the right direction to receive professional help.
As a member of a Christian charity organisation, he was involved with the Prison Fellowship, and visited prison regularly to speak to, support and help prison inmates address their offending behaviour and prepare for their release. He was also involved in visiting hospitals to support and encourage hospital patients.
On his return to the UK, he worked with HM Revenue & Customs at Heathrow Airport. He has also worked as a Prison Officer in a detention centre for female offenders, and as a Community Support Officer with the Metropolitan Police Service.
Simon has been involved in motivational speaking engagements across London and in Manchester, especially within Black Communities, motivating young people to shun violence and crime and develop themselves positively. He has spoken at the Victoria Climbie Foundation, the United Anglo-Caribbean Society and at various events for young people within black communities. He has appeared on Ben TV, Revelation TV and has been involved in discussion programmes on Premier Christian Radio. He has also written for the Hillingdon Race Equality Council.
