Our Company:

Aircraft Technical Book Company is a small business in Tabernash, Colorado (1 1/2 hours northwest of Denver high in the Rocky Mountains). Our company began in 1997 publishing technical manuals for Vans Aircraft serving the educational needs of builders and pilots of the exceptional RV line of experimental aircraft. (Andrew Gold, president and founder of Aircraft Technical Book Company built and still flies an RV-6A.) Soon, the business expanded to serve builders of all types of experimental aircraft, then to professional aircraft maintenance technicians, then to pilots and student pilots ranging from Sport to ATP. Today we stock over 1000 titles by more than 75 publishers including many developed and published exclusively by us, including our new **EASA Modules.
By our best estimate; we are today:

1] the world's largest retailer for the Aviation Maintenance Technician
2] the 2nd largest wholesaler to Aviation Maintenance colleges
3] a top supplier for the aircraft homebuilding community
4] one of the top suppliers to the pilot and flight training customers

**What is EASA?
EASA is the aviation administration which combines (or harmonizes) the National Aviation Administrations of the European Union. In addition many other non-European countries have or are in the process of adopting actual EASA certification or EASA type standards for their own national authorities. Russia, India, Australia, Brazil, Turkey and many others are among those already in some stage of this transition.

How does EASA Part 147 compare to FAA?
In some ways, no difference. A rivet is a rivet and the procedures and standards are the same whether in Chicago or Frankfort or Lusaka, Zambia. However the EASA curricula is somewhat more "big" airplane oriented, while FAA gives more focus on small aircraft. The major difference from EASA to FAA Part 147 schools is the way in which students are taught and tested. FAA teaches in 3 sections, General, Airframe, and Powerplant. EASA teaches and tests, depending on a student's chosen specialty, in up to 15 sections/modules. While all FAA mechanical students study the same curricula regardless of their chosen career path, EASA students must pre-decide their specific direction prior to starting as the modules needed for each path differ. In addition, EASA requires work experience (typically two years) prior to issuing the full certificate. Most EASA students specialize in one of these areas.
