A mechanical face seal is a unique product that is used mainly in water pumps. One half of the seal is seated in the pump housing while the other half of the seal remains free to rotate with the shaft. Two separate seals create a barrier to keep engine coolant from leaking while the shaft is free to turn and move fluid.
